BOTANICA LEO LIN
Project type
Styling Assistant
Location
Sydney, Australia
Date
August 2023
I had the exciting opportunity to assist stylist Patrick Zaczkiewicz for a second time in preparing and styling the Spring/Summer Botanica Collection by Leo Lin for their campaign shoot. This was a high-paced and high-volume project that focused on the presentation and execution of the collection pieces. The role involved more intensive responsibilities and gave me an opportunity to contribute to styling decisions.
Working as a styling assistant, my main role included preparing the collection, over 30 outfits, for shooting by steaming and ironing all pieces, packing and unpacking garments, equipment, and accessories, and dressing models for each look. Furthermore, I provided assistance on styling choices, such as accessory pairings to compliment each outfit and complete looks. This was a higher pressure role than my previous experience assisting Patrick Zaczkiewicz due to the time limit on location and higher quantity of pieces to shoot.
The project presented challenges with tight schedules and fast switch over between looks, and the need to prepare multiple outfits quickly. I overcame these by prioritising tasks and working efficiently. I also handled minor garment issues, such as wrinkles or fitting adjustments, by being prepared, resourceful, and remaining calm when problems arose.
I was able to contribute to a smooth and successful execution of the collection by ensuring all garments were in presentable condition and well styled, ensuring visually appealing results for the final campaign photography and video. I gained a deeper understanding on the importance of styling by providing valuable input on accessory choices to refine the overall collection look.
